WA campaign: expanded asset audit

19 September 2026 | Atlas partial evidence audit

Finding

The expanded materials support a narrower and more defensible question: where are the acted advertisements depicting a male intimate-partner victim and a female perpetrator? The six general-population video links located in the April 2026 toolkit use three recurring relationship scenarios. Two newly checked links are shorter versions of the previously reviewed couple and family scenarios. Neither supplied a reverse portrayal in the inspected sequence.

The findings do not establish that male victims are absent from every campaign resource. The family film includes a boy affected by abuse. Generic resources also address anyone experiencing control. Neither finding establishes a reverse adult partner-abuse portrayal, but both matter when describing the campaign accurately.

Scope and method

Sources: April 2026 toolkit, live resource index, and linked official material. Toolkit pages 11–21 were visually inspected, as were relevant Easy Read illustrations. All PDF hyperlink annotations were extracted into the accompanying inventory. Repeated links and translations are not independent creative concepts.

The four earlier film classifications are carried forward from Atlas's previous review, not represented as a fresh full playback of all four. This pass inspected the two additional 15-second clips through browser frames and embedded captions. The young-couple clip had no exportable transcript. Frame inspection is not a complete audio transcription. This is a single-reviewer assessment, not an independent double-coded audit.

The inventory is broader than the completed content review. The 30 translated explainer links, translated audio, all linked downloadable variants and the complete Aboriginal video playlist have not been individually transcribed and coded. Consequently, this is not a completed whole-campaign absence finding.

Maths: six linked executions comprise two 30-second and four 15-second versions. That is 2 × 30 + 4 × 15 = 120 seconds of nominal creative duration, not airtime purchased. Six links do not mean six independent couples, six broadcasts or a measure of audience exposure. A definitive six-film role count remains unconfirmed pending complete playback/caption records and a second reviewer.

Static and explanatory material

MaterialExaminationResult and treatment
Two poster previews, page 14VisualReuse couple/family characters. A man pictured alone is not automatically a male victim; the relevant film supplies role context.
Two social tile previews, page 15VisualReuse the same images. Do not count as independent relationship scenarios.
Four-tile behaviour carousel, page 16VisualReuses the camping couple, with control labels. Assess the sequence together; an isolated still does not reliably establish perpetrator direction.
Play a Part tiles/stories, page 17VisualText-led, no depicted victim/perpetrator pairing.
Eight ways to take a stand, pages 18–19VisualGeneric bystander advice in carousel/story formats.
How you can help, page 20VisualGeneric support advice, no acted sex-specific pairing.
Behaviour social video, page 21Storyboard preview onlyTypography/icons. Full video not coded from preview alone.
Digital bannersIndex locatedFour downloads require individual visual checks.
Translated posters, tiles and audioInventory locatedTranslation availability is not proof of identical content or effective reach.
Translated explainers, pages 24–26Hyperlinks extractedThree topics across ten language links per topic. Content and linguistic equivalence remain unverified.

These observations derive from the toolkit and index linked above. Generic material belongs in the audit; it is not equivalent to the reverse portrayal Atlas seeks.

Easy Read and Aboriginal campaign

The Easy Read guide explicitly includes anyone as a potential victim and describes partners, carers and family relationships. Relevant pages use varied illustrations, some with ambiguous gender presentation. Do not force ambiguous cartoon figures into a binary coding scheme or claim this guide excludes every male reader. It is an explanatory resource, distinct from paid acted advertisements. No historical claim is made about when its current illustrations first appeared.

The Aboriginal resource page identifies a separate campaign and offers a caption using a male pronoun for the controlling person. Its playlist, language versions, audio and complete artwork require their own coding. A page caption cannot stand in for an audit of every film or translation.

Corrections to the developing case

  1. Replace blanket absence language with the precise adult intimate-partner portrayal question.
  2. Count executions, distinct scenarios, translations, placements and audience exposure separately.
  3. Retain the boy in the family scenario as an affected child; do not erase him to support an adult-victim argument.
  4. Acknowledge generic all-person support messages while assessing whether equal recognisability is achieved in the acted scenarios.
  5. Do not assert equal spend, zero reverse spend or AFL expenditure without placement and financial records.

Outstanding verification

Complete playback of all six films with recorded captions; independent second coding; translated explainer and audio review; individual banner/download review; Aboriginal playlist review; and the placement/spend schedule. The records-request draft seeks the official master asset register and English scripts for translations to make that work auditable.

Publication note: this partial audit is now available for public examination. Publishing it does not complete the outstanding checks.
